Abstract
Mohs micrographic surgery (MMS) is a highly effective, gold-standard treatment for managing many cutaneous malignancies due to its high cure rates and tissue-conserving nature. In MMS, unlike other surgical techniques, the surgeon also serves as the pathologist, ensuring complete histological clearance of the tumor. Specialized processing techniques are used to prepare, section, and stain tissue, allowing thorough examination of both peripheral and deep margins. The tissue is prepared using a cryostat to create frozen sections, which are stained with hematoxylin and eosin stains or immunostains, such as MART-1 for melanoma.
