Description
Pictured is the Memorial Building complex at 1601 and 1609 Admiral Boulevard. It was originally built in the 1920s by Judge Edward Porterfield as the Boy's Hotel, a complex for orphaned and homeless boys. The university purchased the buildings in 1981 for use as classrooms, one of which contained a swimming pool. The larger building, 1601, was razed in 1989 due to unsafe conditions. 1609 was razed in 1999.
