Abstract
Pregnant CFI mice and New Zealand White rabbits were given methamphetamine hydrochloride intravenously during days 9–15 and 12–30 of gestation, respectively. Offspring of mice given 5.0 mg/kg on days 9–15 of gestation had less than 2% anomalies. When 10.0 mg/kg were given on days 9–15, a 13.6% incidence of anomalies was observed. Offspring of rabbits receiving 1.5 mg/kg of methamphetamine on days 12–15, 15–20, and 12–30 of gestation showed an incidence of fetal anomalies of 12, 4, and 15.5% respectively. Offspring sired by treated males showed no significant weight change and had no increased anomaly rate.
